This is Georges Dubey who developed in 1943 the mobile index on the basis of the Landeron 48 caliber. Some other calibers like Valjoux and Venus could also benefit of this technology.

During more than 50 years many brands produced this kind of watches with mobile index (simplified rattrapante system). To know much about this particular chronograph, visit the site (in French) proposed in our links page. The illustrated model is an as new Dubey & Schaldenbrand gold plated one. Based on a Landeron 248 13 3/4 '''. Movement is entirely hand engraved and pink gold plated.

Lemania, today named "Nouvelle Lemania", is not only a Swiss factory which produced movements for a lot of prestigious watch brands. It also produced on its own name some beautiful watches. The illustrated chronograph is a good example. Absolutely not refreshed, only the housing case would need to be gold replated. Interesting is the movement. The famous CH 27 columns wheel, 18'000 A/h and Breguet spiral. Look at the near mint dial and from era original hands. Historically friendship relations existed between Lemania and Omega. This explains why many vintage Omega chronographs were equipped with Lemania calibers. See our albums about the Speedmaster.

This Pierce chronograph is also in a near new condition. The right picture has been taken from the web to show this particular movement, certainly a 134 or 130 Pierce caliber 13 ''', columns wheel, 18'000 A/h and 17 jewels. The Pierce manufacture was founded by Léon LEVY in 1883 in Mouthier Switzerland with the name"Manufacture de Montres et chronographes Pierce SA". The logo of the company was the Greek "PI". The Pierce movement was considered as quite delicate because of the friction rubber drive of some wheels. On a technical and collector point of view, it remains a pretty good and affordable watch. Look at the unique pusher at 4 o'clock.
