Why did we dedicate an entire page to bracelets ?

Speedmasters collectors only can understand. But very few of them exactly know their history. For us, too, it was quite difficult to find it out.

We believed, as most of people, that the famous 1039 was the first released Speedmaster steel bracelet. If you take a look at some market places on the web, you will see that bids are at high level price, and that some people have paid around US$ 400 to get one. Once you take a 1039 in your hands, you will immediately notice that end pieces are made of 20 mm wide attaches.   It does mean that it corresponds to production from model 105012.

So, what about the previous symmetrically shaped housing cases – CK 2915 to ST 105003 – 19 mm wide attaches?

One of the answers is the very hard to find 7912 we were lucky enough to buy in an incredibly nice condition.

Be careful when buying. Take a look at the total length of the bracelet. Many are sold with several missing elements that you could find later but at insane prices. Take an attentive look at our pictures. As far as we recall it, they show full length bracelets.

The 1171 is the first one from seventies, and it can be nicely fitted on vintage Speedmaster with 20 mm wide attaches. This model is quite easy to find, at fair price.

According to the information we collected, hereunder is the history of the Speedmaster bracelets :

ref 7077 for CK 2915 and 2998 19mm

ref 7912 for 105003 19mm (the ref 7912 was replaced by a ref 1501 also called ex7912)

ref 1039 for 105012 and following 20mm till around 1970

ref 1171 for 1450022 since 1971

Many others references have followed until today. Just take a look at the various web sites and see our links page for more information.
