The "pre moon" Omega Speedmaster ST 105012 An "as is" example in very good condition
A fully renovated by Omega factory example (before / after pictures) There is typically a good example of the two schools in collecting watches. The first pictures album shows a wonderful Speedmaster 105012 in its original conditions, save for its NOS hands. Some scratches are present here and there, but everything is "from wrist to wrist" with the original steel, 1039 bracelet. This Speedmaster, serial number 24'538'054 was produced around 1966. The second pictures album shows another "Speed" which couldn't escape a total refreshing operation. The two first pictures speak for themselves. This serial number 24'950'757 was produced around 1966, too. The bezel corresponds to a 1450022 later model. Crown and pushers have also been replaced, while the dial was fully renovated. The steel bracelet is a 1171 one, which has followed the mostly collectable 1039. The 105012 series were produced from 1963, as were the 105003. It was then the 5th generation still to be powered by the famous caliber 321. The main differences between 105003 and 105012 series were the appearance of the word "Professional" on the dial, and the asymmetrical housing shape. The adding of "Professional" certainly first appeared only on the later pieces produced from series 105012. The Omega Museum tends to admit that some differences are visible from model to model along the years of production time. Doesn't this example illustrate the complexity in collecting a Speedmaster ? In short, the 105012 is the first Speedmaster Professional produced, just before the next coming 145012 series. Some original advertisement from 1964 Copyright(c) RochPro Consult 2003.
